Evanton Bike week - a great success

Added on 18 August 2013

The final week of the school holidays saw a week long bike skills programme run by the wood's Education Coordinator (and mountain bike coach) Simon in partnership with Highlife highland staff.  In total, 25 young people from in and around Evanton were shown how to master the core skills of mountain biking then using these to master the great trails within the woods.  The weather was great, lots of smiles from all and more importantly, skills were mastered.

The first part of the programme was to master the correct starting position which then led to correct braking and use of gears.

Body postition on the bike is key allowing the bike to move naturally when going over the rough stuff, here Robert demonstrates the correct stance for going downhill.

The group then used these new found skills to undertake the 'singletrack challenge' in the woods.....

More to follow soon........
