numeracy in the woods with Coulhill Primary

Added on 27 May 2013

Pupils from Coulhill Primary have been trying out numeracy in the woods to help support work in class.  The pupils have been spending thursday morning in the woods looking at geometry, angles, degrees, direction and a whole host of other exciting activities to support maths in the classroom.  They have braved hot sunny days and cold snowy ones yet still have found the sessions exciting and challenging with one pupil stating

" this is the best maths lesson ive ever had"

Even the adult helper (and some Evanton wood staff) went away having learnt something new!

here the pupils are learning to create the names of different angles with their bodies.

Now the group had learned the different angles it was time to put the theory into practice....

...by using the different angles to create structures out of natural materials.

More great numeracy days in the woods to come.
