Evanton Wood

Froglife volunteer day

Added on 28 April 2015

Last saturday saw 10 volunteers brave the sun, rain, snow and hail (all in 2 hours) to help dig another 'scrape' at the pond.  The work was overseen by Froglife Dragonfinder Project, who have partnered EWCC in developing the pond area. The new scrape will attract certain amphibians who like shallower waters and the team dug, moved and squelched their way to completing the task in great time.

In addition to the 'scrape' the group also made some habitat piles to attract and protect large amphibians such and frogs and toads (we even re-housed a wee frog)

Thanks to all the volunteers and Froglife for helping develop / create such a great habitat and educational resource at the woods. Thanks also to our joint funders Heritage Lottery Fund and KCC RWE Inogy Windfarm funds.
