Scottish Cycling and Evanton Community Wood host mountain bike performance training day

Last Sunday (22 Feb) saw 17 would be Olympic mountain bike athletes attend a performance training day in Evanton Wood. The event drew young athletes from near (Dingwall) and far (Aberdeen and Peebles) to hone their racing skills using the trail networks in the community wood. Spirits were not dampened by the snow, the wet, and the cold (the cabin log burner was in overdrive) and all agreed that the day was eventful and rewarding.
On the back of this session discussions were had with Scottish Cycling on how the north can further support young racing hopefuls particularly girls. Education coordinator and cycling coach Simon Harry will be working with active schools to promote further skills session and also look at delivering female only sessions.
